I know I've tried more than all of this, but after 9 hours I've forgotten most of it between my fits of rage and anguish. I've tried SFC /scannow - SFC can't run at all because whenever I prompt it to begin, it tells me that a windows repair is pending and I need to reboot - which does a whole lot of good since I just reboot back into my BOOTMGR is missing press ALT + CTRL + DEL to reboot screen. I've tried just about every command under BCDedit/bootrec.

I've attempted unplugging all other harddrives than my primary - I've moved my primary from sata port to sata port (I was going to cry if the idiot's last resort worked after all of the work I put into it)įor some reason, I can still access the drive/partition/etc. It loads them - then it just sits there with no options in the operating system selection area.

I can't even install the operating system because the hard drive fails to show up in the OS selection - I load the drivers for it and. I've used DISK PART setting the active partition, I've tried startup repair, I've attempted bcdedit in every way shape or form. I was a technician for 3 years, meaning I at least have enough experience to understand simple written instructions, let-alone follow through with them. I've been working at this for 9 hours and I'm so frustrated, I'm literally on the edge of throwing my computer out of my window. I've followed just about EVERY form of instructions I have looked up and I'm still just as befuddled. Rebooted, used bootrec's fixmbr/fixboot/rebuildbcd and All I have are errors. I figured oh well - simple fix, this happens all of the time with these microsoft boxes. So after finally removing every trace of Trojan OS/Alureon.D or E or F or what-the-heck ever, my machine rebooted only to let me know that it couldn't boot. I tried bootrec /rebuildbcd, it finds the Windows install but then says "requested system device cannot be found". I tried bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot, they completed successfully, since then I get missing bootmgr at boot. I tried running the boot recovery from the DVD both booting it as UEFI and legacy but it did nothing. So now I have an MBR SSD with the OS and a recovery partition and 2 GPT HDDs with some user files, but nothing related to the system. For some reason it also formatted one of the HDDs in MBR and made a 500-ish MB system partition on it.Īfter setting up everything, I nuked the HDD and reformatted it as GPT with a single partition, deleting the system partition. I've accidentally booted the DVD in legacy mode instead of UEFI for the install, and it formatted the SSD in MBR.

During the cleanup after building my PC I managed to break my Windows installation and I can't figure out how to fix it without starting over.
